Abstract

The public perception of the profession of a cigarette Sales Promotion Girl is actually
quite varied or different. Not everyone gave negative comments, some gave positive opinions. Persepi in this case is defined as a person's view of something that will respond to how and with what someone will act. Cigarette SPG has been discriminated against by the community and the surrounding environment because the cigarette SPG profession is considered to be less good. The purpose of this study was to determine how the social life of the Sales Promotion Girl (SPG) of Cigarettes in the community of Tanjungpinang City by focusing on the views of the community and their social life. This research is a qualitative research. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with informants, active listening and documentation. The theory used in this study is the Labeling theory proposed by Edwin M. Lamert, related to deviant behavior, in the data analysis method using qualitative descriptive which describes and explains the social life of SPG Cigarettes in the community of Tanjungpinang City. The results obtained from all informants in this study are that SPG cigarettes are very closed or withdrawn and rarely interact with the surrounding environment and they behave as labeled by the community.
