Abstract

The welfare of the nation and state is one of the main goals of the Indonesian state. As has been
mandated in the Fourth Paragraph of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of
Indonesia that the state aims to "realize social justice and general welfare for all Indonesian people".
Normatively, UPT BP2MI Tanjungpinang carries out its role well, namely carrying out its role in
accordance with Law Number 18 of 2019 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers
and Presidential Regulation Number 90 of 2019 concerning the Indonesian Migrant Worker
Protection Agency. Then ideally UPT BP2MI Tanjungpinang carries out its role based on the needs
of the community and in accordance with the conditions of the Riau Archipelago which is an
Indonesian maritime border area by taking precautions to prevent the Placement of Illegal Nonprocedural PMI. Furthermore, factually UPT BP2MI Tanjungpinang has carried out its role well,
namely in fact it has carried out a normative role in accordance with the laws and regulations, namely
by providing protection facilitation, facilitation of repatriation for migrant workers, and socializing
the flow of migrant worker applications to the public through social media and socializing
opportunities to work abroad provided by the government to the community, then providing legal
protection by being an expert witness in the problematic PMI trial. For this reason, the author wants
to know more about UPT BP2MI Tanjungpinang in providing protection to PMI. In this study, the
author uses qualitative analysis methods to reveal more through interviews, and observations
