Abstrak

This research was conducted in one of the resort that is well-known to the international tourists which is Nikoi Island Resort. This research will be focusing on the strategy that were being used by Nikoi Island Resort in order to invite international tourists into their resort. This is quite intriguing because although Nikoi Island Resort is located in the Region of Bintan, Riau Archipelago that share its border with the neighbouring countries such as Singapore, according to one of the employee that works in the resort’s reservation, the data shows that in fact the amount of tourists were mostly UK and Australia with the percentage of UK 30%, Australia 30%, and 60% others. This research is using qualitative method with methods such as interview, previous research and documentation in order to collect the data regarding the issue. The results of this research shows that the strategy that has been used by Nikoi Island Resort is Public Diplomacy, which a strategy that were used to lead public’s opinion, or in this case to international tourists. The strategy includes Public Relation, Nikoi Island Resort builds a relationship with some well-known journalist to which help introduce Nikoi to international tourists. The second strategy is international broadcasting or by using technology, that is social media in order to promote the resort. The third strategy is Place brading, this means Nikoi Island Resort is building a positive “image†in international tourists, as a result the tourists would likely return to the resort for their holidays or even introduce Nikoi to other potential guests.
