STRATEGI BERDAGANG TELUR PENYU DI KECAMATAN TAMBELAN KABUPATEN BINTAN

The phenomenon that occurs in Kecamatan Tambelan, Kabupaten Bintan, is the illegal sale of turtle eggs by the Tambelan community. Turtles are protected animals both nationally and internationally. Internationally, turtles are listed in CITES in Appendix I, nationally these organisms are protected as mandated by Law no. 5 of 1990 The purpose of this study is to explain how the strategy of trading turtle eggs and explain the social network of trading turtle eggs. This research was conducted through observation, interviews and documentation conducted by researchers. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The theoretical framework used is the social network theory proposed by Fukuyama, namely a group of individual agents who share informal norms or values that are important for ordinary market transactions. Social networks occur because of the relationship between one individual with another individual or with certain social groups. The informant determination technique used in this study used a purposive sampling technique, using 8 informants.
From the results of the analysis using this theory, it can be concluded that the strategy of trading turtle eggs is carried out by turtle egg farmers in Tambelan District by packing turtle eggs with coffee powder and putting them in fish fiber, and leaving turtle eggs to the crew (ABK). The social network that occurs between turtle egg farmers in Kecamatan Tambelan, Kabupaten Bintan is due to mutually beneficial work ties. This social network was formed starting with intense communication between turtle egg farmers, turtle egg collectors, crew of passenger ships and consumers. This social network that has been formed will be difficult to separate without a solution for turtle egg farmers.
