Indonesia is a country that has a plural and multicultural society. It consists of various ethnic groups and different cultures. This can affect human behavior itself which has differences from one area to another. In the event that a society/population moves to an area or region where there are people with different characters and cultural backgrounds, cultural contact will also occur due to the existing differences. As is the case with the Butonese community who migrated from their original area to live and settle in Tanjungpinang, where in fact the original population and the majority in Tanjungpinang are Malays. To be able to get used to living in a new environment with the surrounding community, the Butonese tribes who are immigrants in Tanjungpinang will make some adjustments / adaptations. In short, what is meant by adaptation is an observation and adjustment effort carried out in order to create conformity with environmental conditions and existing conditions.
After this research was conducted, it was found that in summary the Buton people have succeeded in making adjustments, while the adjustments were made in several aspects, namely with the aim of being able to get used to and be able to become part of the local Malay community which can be described as a system that interconnected. The Butonese community also made several efforts to regulate / establish relations with the Malay tribal community and also with fellow Butonese in Tanjungpinang. After going through the adjustment process and the goals are felt to have been achieved, it can be seen from the relationships that exist, then in the end the Buton people maintain the harmony and relationships that have been formed in order to sustain the social life between them.
