Abstract

The culture that still exists in the middle of society is Makyong. Makyong is an interesting traditional theater art to watch because it combines various elements in it namely religion, Malay customs, plays, dance moves, song poems, vocals, traditional instrumentals, as well as simple but alluring manuscripts. The purpose of this research is to find out the Tourism and Culture Office's Strategy towards the Preservation of Makyong In Bintan Regency. The informant used is 6 people with descriptive data analysis techniques with a qualitative approach. The results of the study can be described as follows in the first indicator that the program found that for the preservation of makyong there has not been a special program created by the government, in the second indicator of the budget found that there is no funding for the preservation of makyong, the amount of funds allocated for tourism in Bintan Regency. However, it is not involved in any activities or programs that are included in this funding, then the third indicator that is the indicator of the procedure is found that there is already a procedure set out in the policy. To solve the problem of tourism development there are several policies referred to namely making a prolegda then the preparation of a masterplan of tourist areas by focusing the activities of drafting regional regulations according to the scale of priorities set.         The conclusion that the Tourism and Culture Office's Strategy towards the Preservation of Makyong In Bintan Regency of Riau Islands Province still needs attention because there is no funding for the preservation of makyong, the amount of funds allocated for tourism in Bintan Regency. However, it is not involved in any activities or programs included in this funding, because based on the results of the study found the absence of a special agenda and special funds for the performance of mak yong art. Makyong continues to be in place in places such as Mantang Village, but funds for the event are not from the government but from the village, workshops or from non-governmental organizations
