Abstract

Education is the basis for achieving success and aspirations. Education is a systematic effort and helps and guides the growth and development of children achieving maturity both biologically, psychologically and sociologically. Like Ibnu Hajar Asqolani Islamic Boarding School located in Sungai Pinang village which is an Islamic-based education. The presence of Ibnu Hajar Asqolani Islamic Boarding School also provides great benefits, especially for disadvantaged people because the boarding school provides free education to the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the reasons and views of Sungai Pinang Village community who did not send their children to Islamic boarding schools and prefer to send their children to primary schools. This type of research used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach with six informants. The selection of informants with purposive sampling technique with several criteria that have been determined. Discussion on public perception, in this study analyzed using Blumer's Symbolic Interactionism theory. Islamic boarding schools provide free education costs to the community and also employ people in the plantation area in the Islamic boarding school so as to foster good interactions and benefits for the community. However, there are still many community members of Sungai Pinang village who attend their children in elementary schools and Islamic boarding schools
