PEMBERDAYAAN SOSIAL MASYARAKAT SUKU LAUT DI PULAU ABANG KOTA BATAM

Abstract

One of the steps to empower the community is the implementation of a community empowerment program. In carrying out the empowerment program in accordance with its authority, role and function, the important thing for the government to pay attention to is the community's need for community social empowerment programs. This is in order to minimize disregard for programs and programs carried out in accordance with community needs. This study aims to see and observe the government's war in providing and implementing community empowerment. This type of research is qualitative. The theory used is told by Suharto (2005) about Community Empowerment. As for the types of empowerment that are the focal point of concentration put forward in this theory, namely empowerment in terms of social aspects, economic empowerment, and educational empowerment.The need for social empowerment of the Sea Tribe community on Abang Island can be proven by the imbalance of the social development of the marine tribal community with other tribal communities. This is due to the lack of attention from the government to empower marine tribal communities on Abang Island, Batam city. So that this is also the cause of not developing social life in the Abang Island lau tribe community. The existence of this research is hoped that the Batam City government can pay attention again to remote communities that need social empowerment from the government.
