For the community, marriage as something that must be done immediately, because the community considers marriage as a continuation of offspring in the family, be it marriage according to state law, religion and custom. So that in Tanjung Pinang the ideal age for marriage at 21 years for women and 25 years for men as suggested by the Tanjung Pinang City LAM is because it is considered capable of thinking adults in fostering households to maintain the existing Malay culture. Meanwhile the facts on the ground many women choose to marry above the ideal age according to the LAM. Apart from the influence of outside cultures, there are also phenomena of increasing rights, opportunities and gender equality in various aspects of life that will indirectly affect the speed of women in continuing to marriage. This is what researchers want to be careful about by raising the title of people's views about women who are slow to get married in the Tanjungpinang city. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The technique of determining the informants used was purposive sampling technique with informant criteria, namely 1. Women and parents who have daughters who are more than 25 years of age who are not married in Tanjungpinang city, 2. The people of Tanjungpinang city from several ethnicities / tribes, 3. Customary leaders from large tribes in the Tanjungpinang city so that there are 8 informants. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interview, and documentation techniques with data sources namely primary data and secondary data. With data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing techniques. So that the results obtained in this research are 1. women who are slow to marry are considered a disgrace in the community, 2. Social status such as marriage traditions, parent selection, education and socioeconomic status affect women who are slow to marry, 3. Women who are slow to marry are able to get labeling in society.
