Abstract

Ideal children in the family is done by both parents, parenting is basically coparenting, namely the joint responsibility between father and mother. However, this condition can't always be maintained because the variative family need. As happened to the citizens of Tanjung Hutan village residents in the karimun regency who worked abroad. With the aim of improving family welfare, those who have a family and have children must abandon their obligations in parenting. These conditions make the child only get care from one of the parents (father or mother) or another (surrogate parent). The purpose of this study was to find out how the child care patterns of migrant workers’ families in the village of Tanjung Hutan sub-district of karimun regency. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Field data were obtained by interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data analysis using qualitative analysis is an analysis that provides indepth descriptions and conclusions in accordance with the topic and purpose of the study. The data analysis stage is the data reduction, stage of data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of research that has been done, the following conclusions are obtained: (1) the factors underlying the mothers in the village of Tanjung Hutan working as migrant workers abroad, i.e.: firsly economic factors, secondly lack of jobs in the area of origin, thirdly low education, fourthly wants to change fate and fifthly there is a factor of encouragement from outside. (2) in general, migrant workers’ families in Tanjung Hutan village used democratic and permissive parenting. This is because the parenting methods used by family members of migrant workers have the same criteria as democratic and permissive parenting
