Abstract

The lives of farmers who have been vegetable farmers for many years in Kelurahan Raya do not have too much change and increased welfare, so it can be said that their lives are not enough. This is because the price of vegetables is not too expensive and because the crops sold by vegetable farmers are not very much. Vegetable farmers in Kelurahan Raya should be able to find various ways to add to the shortfall in income earned so that they can meet the needs of their families. One of which is by working side by side with a small wage and making loans to other communities that can provide loans. They are also always in the community discussion because they are always in debt. In addition, the lives of vegetable farmers in the community environment very rarely want to gather and attend events that invite them. Therefore, vegetable farmers become the subject of criticism and talk from other communities in Kelurahan Raya because they are considered rarely sociable and arrogant, and rarely help with urgent matters by the community. They are also always looked at in the eye because of their not-so-prominent condition. Therefore, when vegetable farmers start to turn into pepper farmers, there are certainly adaptations and changes that occur in their daily life after they turn into pepper farmers.
So in this study, researchers wanted to know how the adaptation of the social life of vegetable farmers who turned into pepper farmers. This study used a Purposive Sampling technique to determine informants, with the number of informants being 7 people. The data collection techniques that researchers use are observation, gradual interviews, and documentation. The results of research that has been done are as follows: after switching their lives to be more prosperous and better than before, they are more viewed in the community, have more free time, and are more able to gather and hang out in the environment and the community of Kelurahan Raya. So it can remove negative thoughts about those who used to rarely get along in the environment because they are busy with vegetable gardens, have savings, and can help people who want to borrow money for the community around Kelurahan Raya who are troubled.
