Abstract

Youth have a role as agents of change in all aspects of national development. The progress of a country is more or less determined by the thoughts and active contributions of the youth. The existence of education and the development of the use of new media (internet) is expected to be used as an attraction for younger generation to be involved in national development. Therefore, this study aims to find out how much influence of education and new media have on youth political perceptions. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. The data analysis method used is validity and reliability test, classical assumption test with normality test, multiple regression analysis test, hypothesis test using t test, F test and determinant coefficient. The study was conducted using SPSS version 25. The results showed that partially the education variable doesn’t have a significant influence on youth political perceptions. While the new media variable has a significant influence on youth political perceptions. The results pf the F test obtained that calculated value is 10,799 with an F table value of 3,09 indicating that the education and new media simultaneously have a significant effect on the variable of youth political perception. Based on the result of the coefficient of determination test, about 16,5% of the youth political perception variables are influenced by education and new media variables. The rest is influenced by other variables that are not explained in this study.
