Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the Problems of News Writing Skills for Students of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Raja Ali Haji Maritime University in 2017/2018. This research is quantitative descriptive. This study uses a questionnaire technique. The population in this study was the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University Language and Literature Education Students in 2017/2018, totaling 36 students. The results of the research conducted by the researchers showed that the Problems of News Writing Skills for Students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education at the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University in 2017/2018: include lack of talent in writing news, not knowing the systematics of writing good news and true, less skilled in writing news, not confident in writing news, lack of understanding of the material in writing news, lack of focus on the material in writing news.
