Abstract

Laboratory quality is defined as the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of reported test results. Quality can be measured based on the level of conformity to a standard. ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is an international standard that can be used as quality and competence guidelines. Marine Chemistry is a laboratory in Maritime Raja Ali Haji University that has not been accredited by ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The research objectives were to analyze the quality of Marine Chemistry Laboratory and provide recommendations according to the fulfillment of structural requirements ISO/IEC 17025:2017. This research used the gap analysis method. Assessment of the laboratory quality was obtained by measuring the percentage of gap analysis to requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The requirements studied include structural requirements (clause 5) which is foundation of application flow ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Quantitative data from assessment results indicated that Marine Chemistry Laboratory has implemented 79% of structural requirements with an appropriate but inconsisten category. Recommendation prepared based on the non-conformity of actual conditions against competency requirement of ISO/IEC 17025:2017
