Abstract

Language style that is a method used by the author to convey the feelings that arise in his heart by using a typical figurative language to make it look more beautiful and attract attention. that comparative language style is the language style used by the author to compare objects, elements and circumstances to give impression and influence to readers and listeners. Poetry certainly uses language that is beautiful, interesting, and has meaning, because poetry contains a language style that covers all of these. The study of this research is more appropriate to use genetic stylistics studies because it is more specifically analyzing the use of language styles contained in a person's poetry. The researcher chose Erizal Norman's collection of poetry Faces as the object of study, where this collection of poems consisted of fifty-nine poems. This collection of poetry as a whole tells the daily life of the author, be it the situation of the environment, romance, and the situation of the country where the author lives. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. Data collection techniques using library / documentation techniques, and note-taking techniques. The results of this study are not all poems contain a comparative language style, but only fifty of the fifty nine poems contain a comparative language style.
