Abstract

This research, describes the level of meaning in the collection of short stories Kayu Naga by Korrie Layun Rampan. Researchers chose this collection of short stories, as the object of study, where this collection consists of ten short story titles, but researchers only took five short story titles. The whole story tells the struggle of the rural community to move on. Formulation of research problems: how is the level of meaning in the collection of short stories Kayu Naga by Korrie Layun Rampan. The research approach used is qualitative approach, and the type of research study document. Data collection techniques using read methods, and library techniques. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the research obtained about the level of meaning in this collection of short stories are; there is a level of linguistic meaning, which is subdivided into lexical and grammatical meaning levels, there is a level of proposition meaning, pragmatic sense level, and level of contextual meaning, which is divided into the meaning of situation, mood, time and object.
