JENIS MAKNA DAN KATEGORI TOPONIMI KELURAHAN DI KECAMATAN BINTAN TIMUR

Abstract

This research was motivated to describe the toponymy of the names of villages in the East Bintan District. The object of research is the people of East Bintan. This type of research is qualitative ethnography. The data techniques used were observation and interviews. The data analysis technique was carried out using the technical analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study were obtained from East Bintan District, namely the types of meanings and toponymy categories. The types of meanings found were lexical, denotative, and referential meanings. Lexical and denotative meanings can be found in the ethnosemantic toponymy of Kijang Kota Village from the name of the water suction and the name of the deer, Gunung Lengkuas Village, Sungai Lekop Village, and Sungai Enam Village. Furthermore, referential meanings are found in the names Nebem. The toponymy categories found were natural landscape toponymy categories, administrative divisions, other constructed / instructed elements, administrative areas. The toponymy category of natural landscape elements is found in Sungai Lekop Village, Kijang Kota Village, Gunung Lengkuas Village, Sungai Enam Village. The toponymy category of administrative division is in the four sub-districts of East Bintan District. The toponymy category of the administrative area is found in Kijang Kota Village. The toponymy categories of other built / constructed elements are found in Kijang Kota Sub-district.
