Abstract

The background of this research was to see the use of the Bawean language in Sebong Lagoi Village, Teluk Sebong District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province. The research object was adolescents in Sebong Lagoi Village. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique used was to watch and record notes and use observation. Data analysis techniques were performed by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of the research in this study is that the use of Bawean language in adolescents is in the unfavorable category with an average of 20%, while the use of Indonesian with an average of 68% and the use of mixed languages with an average of 11.33%. This happens because teenagers in Sebong Lagoi Village only understand Bawean language, but they do not use Bawean language in their daily communication.
