Abstract

This study discusses the reduction of phonemes in the use of Indonesian in formal communication in the Northeast Bunguran District, Natuna Regency. The purpose of this study was to find and describe phoneme reduction in the use of the Indonesian language of the community of Northeast Bunguran District, Natuna Regency. The study uses qualitative methods, while the research technique uses descriptive techniques. Data collection techniques using tapping techniques carried out at official events organized by the Village. For data analysis, the steps taken by the researcher are transcribing data, identifying data based on phoneme reduction, classifying data based on phoneme reduction, interpreting data, and concluding data. In this research, several phoneme reduction has been found including consonant phonemes /h/, /k/, /y/, /n/, /r/, /s/ and reduction of vocal phonemes /o/.
