Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the need of teacher and students in developing teaching material on a two-variable system of linear equations. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of this study were a mathematics education teacher and 5 grade VIII students at MTs Negeri Tanjungpinang. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis of the results of teacher and student interviews. Which is then described qualitatively. The results of data collection show that (1) the limitations of teaching materials at MTs Negeri Tanjungpinang (2) teachers are constrained in developing electronic teaching materials that are in accordance with the times due to lack of innovation in developing (3) the existing materials are not varied. Based on the results of interviews with teachers and students, teaching materials are needed that can help the learning process on the material of a two-variable linear equation system, so that learning can be fully studied by students with the help of teaching materials. The expected teaching materials are electronic teaching materials that are easily accessible anywhere, with videos so that learning is more interesting.
