Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the events of Code Switching and Code Mixing in the Mataram Edition of Dagelan February 2020. The reason the researcher took this research study was, firstly, because there was an event of code switching and code mixing from utterances in the form of Javanese Ngoko language turning into Javanese Krama. Second, in this slapstick performance, it is not bound by script like other art performances, the humor created by the performers on stage is spontaneous. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The results obtained are in the form of factors causing code switching, the use of language has code switching events caused by speakers who do code switching with the aim of conveying meaning to the interlocutor from Javanese Ngoko to Madya or Ngoko to Krama because speaking to people who are much more old, the interlocutor who does code switching because he sees the speaker during a conversation so that the interlocutor knows how to use the Javanese speech ngoko, krama or madya. The form of code-mixing use in the February 2020 edition of Mataram's Dagelan is the insertion of elements in the form of words in Javanese known as tembung aran (noun), tembung kriya (verb), tembung kahanan (adjective), insertion of elements in the form of phrases in Javanese known as Javanese. known as tembung aran (noun), tembung kriya (verb), tembung kahanan (adjective), insertion of elements in the form of idioms in Javanese.
