Abstract

This study aims to determine how biology teachers perceive evolutionary material at SMA Negeri Tanjungpinang. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The sample of this study was determined using the technique total sampling, namely, the sample was selected based on certain criteria. The research instrument used in the form of a closed questionnaire was used to collect the main data and an open questionnaire was used to collect supporting data. The results showed that the perception of the biology teacher's understanding of evolutionary material had a good category. Perceptions of supporting sources in studying evolutionary material have a good category. The perception of the relationship between evolutionary material and belief has a good category. The perception of the biology teacher's obstacles in studying evolutionary material also has a good category. Overall, the perception of biology teachers on evolutionary material at SMA Negeri Tanjungpinang which includes four indicators is said to be good. The total value of the biology teacher's perception of evolutionary material at the Tanjungpinang City Senior High School is 76,04%. This indicates that the biology teachers who teach at public high schools throughout the city of Tanjungpinang have a good understanding of evolutionary material and can teach evolutionary material well.
