KEMAHIRAN MENCERITAKAN KEMBALI TEKS EKSPLANASI SISWA KELAS VIII SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA NEGERI 16 BINTAN TAHUN PELAJARAN 2020/2021

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the skill of students to retell about explanation text. Research design for This research is descriptive quantitative. The population in this research are all grade VIII students of State Junior High School 16 Bintan academic year 2020/2021 and the total are 121 students with the samples are 55 students from 4 Classes. For This research the data collecting is oral test that retelling explanation text of grade VIII students of State Junior High School 16 Bintan academic year 2020/2021 The results of this study indicate that the level of retelling skills of eighth-grade students of State Junior High School 16 Bintan based on the indicator of completeness of the structure, the overall average is 73.18 with the predicate "Enough", the pronunciation accuracy indicator is 60 with the predicate "Enough", the fluency indicator obtained an average of 54.55 with the predicate "Less", and the indicators of tone, pressure, pause, and intonation obtained an average of 68.63 with the predicate "Enough". So it can be concluded that the results of the ability to retell explanatory texts for class VIII SMP Negeri 16 Bintan students in the 2020/2021 school year are in the assessment category of 64.09 with the predicate "Enough" or category C because they are at the mastery level of 60-75%.
