Abstract

One of the factors causing the rapid occurrence of fish spoilage is the lack of maintained temperature in the caught fish. In the fishing system, traditional fishermen use small pompongs and still use simple (conventional) fishing gear, as well as in terms of cooling the fish, they still use ice cubes so that this makes fishing time limited before the ice melts. The purpose of this research is to design a solar-powered fish cooling system that can maintain temperature stability in fisherman catches. This research device consists of a solar panel, battery charge controller, battery, inverter and collbox as a place to store the caught fish. From the results of this study, the designed device is able to operate at a temperature of -11oC and a long operating time of 3 hours with a battery capacity of 55 Ah. Coll box trial phase without load the time needed to reach a temperature of 0oC is 30 minutes while it takes 2 hours to reach a temperature of -15oC. After the coll box is filled with a load of 5 kg of fish, the initial temperature is 30oC within one hour the cool box temperature becomes -1oC.
