Abstract

The inactivity of student in the learning process can result in a decrease in the value of students.This is because during the learning process teachers are more likely to carry out learning which is still in the form of question and answer lectures and dicussions which can result in students being less interested in participating in learning, so that students do not learn to be down. The use of teaching materials during the learning process is a solution that can be used in the learning process that aims to make students interested inthe learning that is taking place. The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs of students for LKPD with a STEM approach to the Basic Law of Chemistry. Data collection techniques used were observation and interviews with students and chemistry teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungpinang. The data collection techniques used is deskroptive qualitative. The result of the observations made were less active in participating in the learning process and teachers had not fully used teaching materials in the learning process. While the result of the interviews conducted were the students’ lack of development of teaching materials that could increase the aktiveness of students. Thus the need for the development of LKPD with a STEM approach for grade X students on basic chemical law materials.
