IDENTIFIKASI PEMAHAMAN KONSEP SISWA KELAS XII IPA TENTANG SIFAT PARTIKULAT MATERI
The concept understanding about the particulate nature of matter is necessary to identified, because the particulate nature of matter is a basic concept in chemistry learning. If there are concepts that are not understood by students, then they cannot understand the further concepts well. This research aims to determine students’ concept understanding of the particulate nature of matter in class XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Tiga and class XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Palmatak. This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The population of this research were all of students in class XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Tiga amounting to 25 students and all of students in class XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Palmatak amounting to 54 students with the population sampling technique, namely total sampling, so that the total sample was 79 students. This research instrument uses 11 questions two tier diagnostic test and collect understanding of 3 concepts, namely: (1) Intermolecular distances in solids, liquids, and gases. (2) The influence of intermolecular forces on changing states, and (3) diffusion in liquids and gases. This research shows the average percentage of the overall students level of understanding identified into 3 percentage categories, namely, understanding of the concept 21,51% low criteria, misconceptions 46,60% moderate criteria, and not understanding the concept 31,88% low criteria.
