Abstract

Misconception in students are very important to won’t continuously occur. This study aimed to identify the misconceptions of class X science students on particulate substance concept. This type of research was descriptive with quantitative methods. The implementation was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Palmatak, Kep. Anambas and SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Tiga regency Kep. Natuna, which described 71 studentds of class X IPA. The research instrument was a written teo-tier diagnostic test with an indication of 11 items. The results of this study shows that the concept 1 the mean of percentage the misconception level of 64,79% with the high category. From the concept 3 the mean of percentage the misconception level of 64,79% with the high category. From the concept 3 the mean of percentage the misconception that happened of students in SMA Negeri 1 Palmatak and SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Tiga included the level of misconception is “Highâ€. This was proven by the number of true-false answer patterns and false-true answer patterns. Thus, it is necessary ti reduce misconceptions among students so that they can be resolved.
