Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1). To determine the level of learning motivation  in the male and female class at SMPIT Al Madinah Tanjungpinang, 2). This is to determine the differences in learning motivation in the male and female classes at SMPIT Al Madinah Tanjungpinang. This research is a descriptive research design with a comparative study design. The population used in this study were students of SMPIT Al Madinah Tanjungpinang in the 2020/2021 academic year, totaling 7 classes, including 4 for male classes and 3 for female classes. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with a total sample of 133 students in grades VII and VIII in the 2020/2021 academic year at SMPIT Al Madinah Tanjungpinang. Data collection was done using a questionnaire and documentation. The results of descriptive data analysis that have been carried out obtained that the students' learning motivation in the male and female class was included in the very good category, from a learning motivation questionnaire with 30 statement items, namely class male got a percentage of 77%, and class female with a percentage of 79%. This study used the T-test (independent sample t-test) in which to determine the data results of differences in motivation between male and female classes at SMPIT Al Madinah Tanjungpinang. In learning motivation, a significance value (sig) is obtained of 0.123> 0.05. Thus it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in motivation between male and female classes at SMPIT Al Madinah Tanjungpinang.
