Abstract

The research objective was to determine the need for teaching materials STEM based on chemistry learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Method used in the form of interviews for teachers and students at SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungpinang. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that: (1) There are problems in learning, namely teachers are not able to control the class; (2) Students have difficulty learning because the busy classroom atmosphere makes students unable to pay attention to the teacher's explanation properly; (3) A teaching material is needed which can help teachers and students in learning. The needs analysis consists of problem analysis, student and teacher analysis and objective analysis. Conclusion from this research it is necessary to develop teaching materials in the form of electronic modules in chemistry-based learning STEM.
