Abstract

This research discussed about two- tier multiple choice diagnostic test on maritime based chemical bonding material. The purpose of this research determined feasibility and effectiveness of maritime based in two- tier multiple choice diagnostic instruments test to identify students' misconceptions on chemical bonding material. This research type is Research and Development (R&D) research have been using the 4-D model i.e. define, design, develop, and disseminate. But author limit this research in develop stage. The instrument developed was validated by chemists, linguists and maritime chemists. The research subjects were 24 students of SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang in class X MIPA. Product trials were conducted using instruments test and the techniques for analyze data was qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the content validity test with a CVI value of 0.94 out of 20 questions categorized as very appropriate, empirical validity of 17 valid items stated that all items were valid, the reliability of 17 items of 0.788 was categorized as reliable with the level of reliability is high, the level of difficulty is in the medium category, and there is no bad or very bad distinguishing power, as well as the effectiveness test with an average percentage of misconception results of 31.1% which are categorized as moderate. Based on the results of this study concluded that the two- tier multiple choice diagnostic instruments test based on maritime chemistry material is feasible and effective as an evaluation tool to identify misconceptions among students.
