Abstract

This study aims to describe ocean literacy profile of biology high school teacher in Tanjungpinang city. Sample uses a total sampling technique. The sampel in this research were 24 biology teachers on duty in Tanjungpinang city which is a coastal city in Riau Archipelago. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The instrument used validated by the advisor/lecturer ini the biology education study program. The research instruments used are ocean literacy test, questionnaire about attitude towards the ocean, and open questionnaire as additional data. To measure the level of ocean literacy, the data was analyzed using simple descriptive statistical technique. The result showed ocean literacy level of biology teacher are sufficient category at 59% and falls into very good of category attitude toward the ocean at 93% at the stage of receiving positive values. Based on the results of the analysis in an open questionnaire, the teacher's attitude has been created in action. So, it can be concluded that Ocean Literacy Profile of Biology High School Teacher in Tanjungpinang City being in the sufficient category.
