Abstract

Some of the 2013 curriculum requirements that must be achieved in classroom learning one of which is the demand for interactive learning as student is the learning center. Another purpose is to develop abilities and form characters who are able to be critical, creative, able to make decisions, and able to solve. The low learning outcomes because there are still many obstacles and problems in overcoming the difficulties of students to develop thinking processes, especially those related to solving problems. One effort that allows for the development of critical thinking skills and learning outcomes and helps students understand concepts is the application of problem solving learning models. Because basically this learning model is required to solve problems that are the life processes that it faces. This type of research is quantitative research. Researchers will use the quasi-experimental method. The class division is in accordance with the group also the research design, where there is an experimental and control class. The results of this study, in the experimental class the nGain value was 74 with very good criteria while the nGain value in the control class was 55 with moderate criteria. Furthermore, the hypothesis test to see the difference in increasing critical thinking skills is used Mann Whitney test with the Asymp value results. sig 0,000 is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected. Overall, the learning process both in the introduction, core and closing activities gained an average of 91.7% with a very good category.
