ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA BERDASARKAN TEORI POLYA PADA MATERI PELUANG

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students' mathematical problem solving abilities based on Polya's theory on material opportunities. In solving mathematical problems based on Polya's theory, it requires 4 stages of problem solving namely the stage of understanding the problem, planning the problem solving strategy, implementing the problem solving strategy and checking the results of the problem solving. This type of research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII C of SMP Negeri 5 Tanjungpinang, totaling 33 students. Of the 33 students who took the test several students were selected to be interviewed as a follow-up to the results of the problem solving ability test. Data collection techniques using written tests, interviews and documentation. Data analysis in this research is to use data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that in general students' mathematical problem solving abilities based on Polya's theory are the ability to understand problems by 19%, the ability to plan strategies by 34%, the ability to carry out strategies by 34% and the ability to check again by 13%. The results show that the problem solving stage that is still low or weak is owned by students is the stage of understanding the problem and the stage of re-checking, this is because students do not understand the information contained in the problems and the inability of students to re-examine the results of problem solving obtained.
