PENERAPAN MODEL NOVICK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS SISWA MTS
This study aims to determine the differences in increasing the mathematical representation ability of students who obtain Novick learning models with those who obtain conventional learning at MTs Idris Bintan. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental type of pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII MTs Idris Bintan 2019/2020 school year consisting of 3 classes with a total of 72 students. This study uses two classes as a sample class taken using a random class, namely class VIII A with a total of 24 students as the experimental class and class VIII B, amounting to 24 students as the control class. Data collection was carried out using instruments in the form of observation sheets and tests of mathematical representation capabilities on the Cartesian coordinate material.
From the results of the analysis obtained an average increase in mathematical representation ability of students in the experimental class by 0.69, while the average increase in the control class by 0.29. Based on the calculation of the hypothesis test using the Mann-Whitney U test at a significance level of 5% or (α = 0.05), Asymp was obtained. sig (2-tailed) of 0,000. In this study using a one-party test (right side) obtained sig 0,000 where p-value < α, then Ho is rejected. This means that the improvement of students' mathematical representation ability by applying Novick's learning model is higher than students who obtain conventional learning.
