Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the problem-solving ability of class XI vocational students on trigonometry in terms of the IDEAL problem-solving ability in SMKN 1 Tanjungpinang. The reason why researchers took the title is that there are some problems that occur among students including those students who are weak in analyzing the problem description, there are problems in problem solving abilities, and there are problems in understanding IDEAL problem-solving ability strategies. Therefore, the final result that will be achieved in this study is that students are able to describe IDEAL problem-solving abilities both in several stages of IDEAL and all stages of IDEAL. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that focuses more on the research process than the research results. The research instrument consisted of test instruments and interview instruments. The research subjects were students of class XI MM 2. To measure student's IDEAL problem solving abilities, the researchers used IDEAL scoring guidelines where the total value of each for stage I consisted of 0 -12, the total value for stage D consisted of 0 -12, the total value for stage E consists of 0 - 12, the total value for stage A consists of 0 - 12, and the total value for stage L consists of 0 - 12. Based to the total value of each stages, all total values are 0 - 60.
