Abstract

Character education is a system of instilling character values to school members that includes components of knowledge, awareness or will, and actions to carry out these values, both to God, self, others, the environment, and nationality so that they become perfect human beings. For learning the value of character education can also be obtained in electronic media, one of which is film. The purpose of this study was to analyze the values of character education contained in the film Di Timur Matahari by Ari Sihasale. The method used by researchers is qualitative. While this type of research is the type of content analysis research (counten analysis).From the results of the research process carried out there are 18 values of character education, namely: Religious, honesty, tolerance, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, patriotism, valuing achievement, friendship, peace, social care, responsibility, discipline, hard work, nationalism, love to read, care for the environment. So from 18 there are 13 values of character education in the film in the East Sun except the value of discipline education, hard work, the spirit of nationalism, love to read and care for the environment.
