Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the students' ability to solve HOTS-based questions. This research is a descriptive qualitative research that explains the phenomena that occur. The results of the written test analysis based on scores in answering the HOTS questions on the classification of living things are at an average percentage of 66.3% which can be categorized as good, but it cannot be said that students can work on HOTS questions properly and correctly. The results of the written test analysis based on the SOLO taxonomy in answering HOTS type questions on the classification of living things are at the most dominant level, namely Uni-Structural, namely students can only answer with minimal information so that students cannot answer properly and correctly.
