Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the learning independence profil ofeighth-grade students
of junior high school 5 tanjungpinang. The population of this research amounted to 180 students
and the number of samples of this study was 54 students. Collecting data using the instrument in
this study is a validity test. Test the validity of the researt items using the moment product
correlation formula. The result of the validity test of 30 questions with the r-table criteria used of
0,361 reslted in 25 valid questions and 5 invalid items. The analysis in this study was descriptive
quantitative by using the mean and standard deviation analysis tools to determint the level of
learning independence of the students of junior high school 5 Tanjungpinang is in the medium
category. Based on the data it is known that as many as 46% of students are in the medium
category, as many as 31% of students are in the high category and as many as 23% of students in
the low category. Most of the students of SMPN 5 Tanjungpinang are on the way to mastering high
learning independence but have not shown consistent behavior in showing indicators of learning
independence
