ANALISIS KRITIK SOSIAL DALAM NOVEL SELAMAT TINGGAL KARYA TERE LIYE

Abstract

This Research almed to reveal the social criticize In the Novel “Selamat Tinggal†by Tere Liye regarding the sociology of literature. Object of this research is the novel entitled “Selamat Tinggal†by Tere Liye that published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama, Jakarta in 2020. The method of this research used descriptive qualitative method by using content analysis technique that showed how social criticize in the novel. The result of this research is social criticize in the novel as follows: (1) Social Criticize about education, namely criticism of the lack of character education, so that even in the educational process children lack the good character that an educated person should have. In this case, criticizing that educated people also do not necessarily have good characters, the evidence is in the excerpt of this novel that there is a teacher who corrupts the BOS Fund, and school children also learn to use pirated books. (2) Social Criticize about manners , social criticism of moral issues; namely the attitude of humans who justify all means for their needs. The attitude is about tolerance, greed. This attitude should be avoided in order to create a harmonious atmosphere. (3) Social Criticize about economy, social criticism of economic problems, namely that the economic problems that are criticized are caused by demands for meeting needs that are not evenly distributed, economic demands that only make people work as an effort for money without enjoying what they do. (3) Social Criticize about economy.
