Abstract

This study aims to describe the Violation of the Principle of Language Politeness in the Malay Community of the Malay Society of Sungai Besar Village, Lingga Utara District, Lingga Regency. The object of this research is the conversation content of the Malay community informants in Sungai Besar Village, Lingga Utara District, Lingga Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method, which describes a symptom, event, event that occurs whose results are presented in the form of a research report. The research instrument is the researcher himself. In addition, other tools in this study are records. The data collection techniques in this study were in the form of observation techniques, tapping, listening, engaging, listening, and taking notes. The results of the research obtained were found 44 forms of violation of the principle of politeness in language in the jokes of the Malay Society of Sungai Besar Village, Lingga Utara District, Lingga Regency. Based on the data collection and analysis that has been discussed, it can be seen that the violation of the principle of politeness in language in the jokes of the Malay Community of Sungai Besar Village, North Lingga District, Lingga Regency includes six maxims, namely the maxims of wisdom, generosity, praise, humility, agreement, and sympathy.
