Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the sustainable potential of the dog conch, the level of utilization and the amount of catch allowed in Senggarang waters. This research was conducted in August-October 2017. This study used a survey method of 23 respondents who became dog conch fishermen (30.5% female fishermen and 69.5% male fishermen) using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The results found 3 types of dog conch namely Leavistrombus turturella, Strombus urceus and Leavistrombus canarium. The value of the sustainable potential (MSY) of barks is 136.54 kg / week with an optimal capture effort (F optimal) of 100 trips. The average value of the utilization rate of the dog conch of 77% is included in the third level of the optimum category. The amount of catch allowed (JTB) is 109,232 kg / week. The results showed the quality of waters in the waters of Senggarang are still within the criteria for the quality standard of Ministry of Environment Decree No. 51 of 2004.
