This study aims to determine the effect of venture capital and competence partially on marketing, the effect of venture capital and competence simultaneously on marketing, the influence of venture capital, competence and marketing partially on the development of SMEs, the effect of venture capital, competence and marketing simultaneously on the development of SMEs and the effect of venture capital on the development of SMEs through marketing, and the influence of competencies on the development of SMEs through marketing. The population in this study were all SMEs in Tanjungpinang City. Determination of the sample using the random sampling method, with sampling techniques using the Slovin formula to obtain 100 respondents. The data collection method used was a questionnaire / questionnaire. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive test, data quality test, classic assumption test, path analysis and hypothesis testing. The results of the analysis in this study show that business capital and competence partially have a significant effect on marketing. Business capital and competency simultaneously have a significant effect on marketing. Business capital, competence and marketing partially have a significant effect on the development of SMEs. Business capital, competence and marketing simultaneously have a significant effect on the development of SMEs. Marketing is not able to mediate between venture capital and the development of SMEs and marketing is able to mediate between SMEs competencies and development. Based on the research results, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Tanjung Pinang City are expected to continue to maintain and continue to develop SMEs by taking into account any factors that can support the development of SMEs other than through venture capital and competence.
