Abstract

he purpose of this study was to examine career development, work environment, and its influence
on performance through work methods as an intervention variable at Dinas Perikanan Kabupaten
Bintan Kepulauan Riau. The variables used in this research are career development and work
environment as independent variables, job satisfaction as the intervening variable and performance
as the dependent variable. This research is categorized as quantitative research because it uses a
questionnaire as a research instrument which is the primary data in this study. The population in this
study were 72 employees at Dinas Perikanan Kabupaten Bintan. The sampling technique used is
purposive sampling by taking 48 civil servants as the sample. The collected data was tested and
analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program. The data analysis methods used in this study
were descriptive statistical tests, data quality tests, classical assumption tests, path analysis and
hypothesis testing. Based on the results of the study, it is known that career development partially has
a significant effect on performance, partially career development has a significant effect on job
satisfaction, work environment partially has a significant effect on job satisfaction, job satisfaction
partially has a significant effect on performance, career development has a significant effect on
performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable, work environment has a significant
effect on performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable.
