Abstract

Research on the characteristics of Padina australis habitat has been conducted in the waters of Karas Island, Galang District, Batam City. The purpose of this study was to determine the water parameters, density, biomass and habitat characteristics of Padina australis in Karas Island, Galang District, Batam City. This study used a purposive sampling method of 3 stations. The results showed that the density of Padina australis with an average value of 13.50 ind / m2 to 17.25 ind/m2. Padina australis biomass is obtained with an average value of 5.27 g/m2 to 10.06 g/m2. Habitat characteristics that are more suitable with Padina australis in Karas Island Waters Galang District Batam City are sandy gravel substrate and supporting parameters namely brightness, TOM, small watter current relatively..
